What’s Blooming This Month at The Grove (June Edition)
Every month, something fresh is in bloom at The Grove—and June brings some of our brightest and most heat-hardy plants into the spotlight. Our subtropical climate supports an incredible range of color, fragrance, and texture this time of year.
What to Look For in June:
Zinnias: Bursting with reds, oranges, pinks, and purples, zinnias love the sun and are a go-to for pollinator gardens. They also make great cut flowers!
Lantana: A sun-lover with clusters of yellow, orange, or pink blooms that butterflies adore. It’s drought-tolerant and blooms nonstop all summer.
Plumbago: With its profusion of soft blue flowers, plumbago thrives in the heat and pairs beautifully with ornamental grasses or shrubs.
Crape Myrtle: These flowering trees are just beginning their show and will peak in mid-to-late summer. Check out our selection in whites, pinks, lavenders, and deep reds.
Mexican Petunia (Ruellia): Known for its resilience and purple trumpet-like blooms, it’s spreading fast and blooming beautifully right now.
Staff Pick: June is also a great time to plant heat-tolerant herbs like basil and rosemary, which are thriving in our greenhouse and herb section.
Tips:
Water early in the day to reduce evaporation.
Add mulch around new plantings to help retain moisture.
Deadhead spent blooms to keep perennials producing strong.
